The French Luxury Maison Chanel announced Thursday that its next Métiers d'Ast collection will be presented in New York on December 2.
In a brief statement, the Parisian house founded by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel said: “This choice extends the story that has joined Chanel with New York since the 1930s, from the first trips of Gabrielle Chanel through the Atlantic to the show of the Métiers de Paris Metiers collection of York in the 2018 Metropolitan Art Museum.” ”
The exact details of the location of the show were not revealed.
The parade will be the first Métiers d'Ast collection designed by the newly appointed creative director, Matthieu Blazy, who will make his debut in Chanel on October 6 for the collection of the Ready To-We Casa Collection as part of the Paris Fashion Week.
“I am delighted that Matthieu Blazy has chosen New York for his first exhibition Métiers d'Art,” said Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel Fashion.
“The creative energy of the city resonates that knows so well with the exceptional savoir-faire of the house.”
Created by the former creative director of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, in 2002, Metiers d'Art is an annual destination show made by Chanel to highlight the experience of 12 artisanal workshops now owned by French Fashion House, including the embroidery Lesage and Milliner Maison Michel.
The previous exhibition places include Dakar, Paris, Manchester and Hangzhou in China, where the fashion house showed its Metiers d'Art collection last year.
