Tiger Woods withdraws from Genesis Invitational; ambulance arrives at the golf course

Tiger Woods' return to the PGA Tour was brief and terrifying.

The 48-year-old returned to the course on Thursday for an official event for the first time since the Masters in April.

On Friday, however, he quit.

Woods was playing in the Genesis Invitational, a tournament he organizes, in Rivieria, but withdrew during the second round due to illness.

Woods' longtime business partner Rob McNamara confirmed that Woods was “feeling some flu-like symptoms,” via Sports Bar Stool.

“I woke up this morning, they were worse than the night before. He had a little fever and stuff, and he was better during the warm-up, but then when he came out and was walking and playing, he started feeling dizzy.”

Doctors said he had “potentially some flu” and gave him an IV, “reversing” his symptoms.

McNamara added that the withdrawal “wasn't physical at all.”

“His back is fine. Everything was medical,” he said.

An ambulance and at least one fire truck were spotted outside the Riviera clubhouse, and it was speculated that it was for Woods. However, the ambulance left the golf course without loading anyone, according to several people on the course.

But now it's 2024 and it's getting harder for Woods to compete.

Before the tournament, Woods said he was in the course to win, but felt visibly uncomfortable throughout the day.
