Tah stays at Leverkusen due to his links with Barcelona and Bayern Munich

German defender Jonathan Tah has posted a statement on his Instagram account confirming that he will remain at Bayer Leverkusen.

There has been talk this summer of Tah possibly leaving the club, with both Bayern Munich and Barcelona interested in signing him. His contract with Leverkusen expires in June 2025.

In his statement he admits that he considered other options in this transfer window, but has committed his immediate future to the Bundesliga champions.

The statement, addressed to Leverkusen fans, read: “There has been a lot of speculation about me and my future lately. Some things have not always been explained properly, but I'm sure I'll go into more detail at some point.

“It's true that I have also been looking at other options in the meantime, but it is now clear that I will complete my 10th year at Bayer 04. You can rest assured that I am very excited about all the challenges that await me this season with our team, the coaching staff and the fans.

“I firmly believe that we have a very strong team again and that we will be able to create memories again in all competitions.

“But now, let's put an end to all the speculation and focus fully on the 2024/25 season! I promise you that I will give everything I can this season to make us successful, as I have done for the last 9 years!”
