Let's take a look at the new events fans will be able to see when the Olympic Games begin on July 26.

SPORTS BACK

skate

Park and street skate disciplines were popular when they were introduced in Tokyo, as some of the world's best skaters showed off their creativity on their boards.

Each event will consist of two rounds, preliminaries and finals, in skate parks designed to give competitors all the resources necessary to impress the judges with their tricks.

Skaters will be judged not only on the height and speed of their rinks during jumps, but also on their ability to use the entire surface of the skate park.

Paris' famous Place de la Concorde will be the venue for this year's skate competition.

TEAM USA: TBD

Surf

The sport that inspired skateboarding is also returning to the Olympic Games, as Tahiti will host the best surfers on the planet to compete on its waves.

Surfing is one of the first events to kick off the Olympics, as they will compete for four days over a 10-day period from July 27 to August 5.

Five judges will determine scores based on wave tricks, as well as speed, power and flow, which is how surfers connect their movements while riding a wave.

Climbing

It may not be a sport you are familiar with, but it is gaining popularity every year around the world to the point that the 2020 Olympic Games incorporated it.

Sport climbing is divided into three different areas of specialization: speed, bouldering and lead. In terms of speed, these are intense one-on-one rounds in which athletes try to scale the 15-meter wall faster than their opponent.

Bouldering is even more exciting: athletes climb a 4.5 meter wall without ropes. In Lead, climbers attempt to scale a 15-meter wall in less than six minutes without having seen it before, requiring both physical and mental strength.

Rip

The dance form that originated in the 1970s and became increasingly complex over time is headed to the Olympics.

Breaking competitions have been held around the world for years, with some incredible men and women showing off their incredible skills to our amazement.

There will be two tests, divided into men and women, with 16 contestants for each one. They will go head to head in solo battles.

Men's artistic swimming

Artistic swimming has typically been associated with women, but has grown tremendously among male swimmers.

Artistic swimming consists of aquatic acrobatics to the rhythm of music and, for the Olympic Games, is divided into a free routine and a technical routine. There is also a duo and team competition that involves both routines throughout their performances.

It is quite a challenge considering that the pool is three meters deep, while the athletes must push themselves out of the water to perform their routines. The judges will be interested in speed, timing and degree of difficulty throughout.

Marathon Walking Mixed Relay

This is a revised format compared to never being in the Olympics.

The march will feature a mixed team relay for the first time, as it replaces the 50-kilometer individual race. 25 teams will compete, each with a man and a woman on the team, and they will alternate every 10 kilometers.

Jon Ridgeon, CEO of World Athletics, said the race format, which begins at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, is “designed to be innovative, dynamic and unpredictable.” He also believes that fans will catch on quickly, leading to quick enthusiasm for the competition.

kayak cross

Kayaking has long been an Olympic sport, as there have been individual kayak and canoe competitions for men and women.

However, kayak cross is a completely different animal, as four athletes will each compete at the same time instead of going it alone with just the clock to run. There are four gates downstream and two gates upstream; If you fail one, you will be automatically disqualified.

There is also this; Each athlete will have to perform a “kayak roll,” which means doing a 360-degree rotation in their kayak, putting their head underwater in the process.
