Pulisic unveils stylish cricket-inspired AC Milan away jersey

With American star Christian Pulisic returning home, AC Milan and shirt manufacturer Puma chose a novel way to present their new away jersey.

The Serie A giants gave fans in New York City quite the surprise during their pre-season friendly against Premier League champions Manchester City at Yankee Stadium on Saturday.

As expected, both Milan and City started the match in their new home kits for the 2024-25 season. However, after the break, the two teams emerged from the dressing room tunnel wearing completely different uniforms.

City returned in their new burgundy third kit which was unveiled at an event in New York earlier in the week, while Milan shocked fans by playing the second half in their new all-white away kit.

It was also a winning debut for the new team, with Marco Nasti's 78th-minute goal giving coach Paulo Fonseca's side a 3-2 victory over Pep Guardiola's side.

The kit is a nod to the RossoneriIt was founded in 1899 by British textile entrepreneur Herbert Kilpin under the name Milan Football and Cricket Club.

As such, the 2024-25 away kit is based on a sleek and sophisticated template that draws inspiration from the kits worn by players of that quintessentially English bat-and-ball game.

The collar and cuffs of the polo are decorated with simple red and black detailing, while the monochrome black logos and club crest add a sleek, minimalist touch.

The fabric also has a very slight pinstripe effect which is also a subtle visual reference to the famous stripes that Milan's footballers have worn since it was formed 125 years ago.

Milan will be hoping to catch Inter Milan next season after finishing second behind them in the Serie A title race last season, ending the campaign 19 points behind the champions.

Inter also got the better of Milan when they met in the 2022-23 Champions League semi-finals, before losing the final in Istanbul to treble winners Manchester City.

In a bid to close the gap on their local rivals, Milan have signed Fonseca to replace Stefano Pioli in the dugout, while they have also signed Spanish captain and striker Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid.
