The International Tennis Integrity Agency announced on Friday that it has banned Jasmina Tinjić for six years for allegedly fixing matches.
The ITIA said Tinjić admitted to 23 “violations of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Programme” including “manipulating the outcome of matches, facilitating betting, receiving money in exchange for not giving maximum effort in matches and failing to report corrupt approaches.”
Tinjić, 33, who was ranked 236th in 2013, pleaded no contest to charges relating to “corrupt activity” in 2017 and 2018, the ITIA said.

The International Betting Integrity Association was flagged in January 2018 while playing in a tournament, leading to an investigation.
“The Swedish authorities conducted an investigation into several tennis matches in which Ms Tinjić participated and in which there was also suspicious betting activity,” the ITIA said in its ruling.
That investigation led to criminal charges against her after she was found guilty of accepting a bribe of 12,000 Swedish krona (the equivalent of about $1,160).
It was discovered that several matches had been fixed in three different countries. It was also revealed that a bank transfer had been made. The ITIA omitted the name of the person who made the transfer and other details of the alleged match-fixing cases.
Tinjić was also uncooperative and allegedly tampered with evidence.
“At the time, she was very stressed and suffering from anxiety and depression,” the agency said. “Her financial situation aggravated these problems and did not allow her to cope with them properly. She was therefore vulnerable and allowed herself to be influenced in a way that would not have happened otherwise. For this, she expresses her deep regret and anguish.”
Tinjić was already handed a four-and-a-half-year ban in Sweden following a match-fixing investigation. The ITIA said his six-year ban was backdated to match the Swedish ban and will end on May 17, 2028.
