NC State's Donavan Phillip and Stanford's Jasmine Aikey win Hermann Trophy


STREET. LOUIS – Forwards Donavan Phillip of NC State and Jasmine Aikey of Stanford were chosen Friday as winners of the Hermann Trophy as the best college soccer players in the United States.

Phillip, a junior from St. Lucia who turned 21 on Sunday, scored 19 goals as the Wolfpack reached the NCAA championship game, which it lost to Washington in overtime.

Aikey, a 20-year-old senior from Palo Alto, California, scored 21 goals for Stanford, which lost the NCAA finals to Florida State. He signed Thursday with Denver of the NWSL.

Voting for coaches is conducted annually by the Missouri Athletic Club.
