Liverpool move will be done in “a matter of days” – Arne Slot

Feyenoord coach Arne Slot said on Friday that the deal to succeed Jürgen Klopp as Liverpool manager will be finalized “in a matter of days.”

Sources have confirmed to ESPN that Liverpool have reached an agreement with the Dutch club that will see Slot take charge of Anfield.

“It's not done yet, but it will be a matter of days,” Slot said at a news conference.

“It takes more than just a shopping list and going to the store. This kind of thing needs to be scheduled properly. It hasn't been communicated yet, but don't worry, it will definitely happen soon.”

Klopp confirmed in January that he will step down as Liverpool manager at the end of the season, with Slot emerging as the leading candidate to replace him.

Slot, 45, signed a three-year contract last year after leading the Rotterdam club to the Eredivisie title. The former AZ Alkmaar coach rejected offers from Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur last summer to commit his future to Feyenoord.

Liverpool's hopes of lifting the Premier League title in Klopp's final season in charge look remote after they dropped points against Everton and West Ham in back-to-back games in April.

The Merseyside club are five points behind league leaders Arsenal with just two games left in the season.
