Kylian Mbappé: “I can't wait” for a new club after leaving PSG

Kylian Mbappé has said he “can't wait” to sign for his next club after seven years at Paris Saint-Germain.

The French striker has not revealed where he will play next, although he is expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer after his PSG contract expires.

“It's going to be an incredible experience and I can't wait to be at my new club,” Mbappé told CNN Sport. “I will leave my country [for another league] for the first time.

“I want to win trophies… When it comes to football, [it’s about] win trophies, be with new teammates. “Now I have my contract with PSG… Everyone knows it ends soon and we'll see what happens.”

Mbappé, who was named European Player of the Year at Tuesday's European edition of the Globe Soccer Awards, was close to joining Madrid two years ago.

However, Mbappé changed his mind late and signed a new contract with PSG until June 2024, a decision he said he did not regret.

“It was more than staying at PSG,” he said. “It was the World Cup in Qatar. There were many things surrounding these things. It was a big decision, a difficult decision… but I don't regret anything.

“Of course, in a career you have to make difficult decisions and that's what I did, but I became the top scorer of all time with PSG. I just want to remember the best things… It was not an easy situation and “I wish no one experienced that.”

Asked if he would cheer on Madrid when the Spanish champions face Borussia Dortmund in Saturday's Champions League final at Wembley Stadium, Mbappé smiled and said: “No. I will watch the final like you. When you love the football, you watch “Every game. I watch all the games when I can… in France, England, Spain, Germany, Italy, all the leagues. So, of course, I'm going to watch the Champions League.”

Mbappé will soon join the France team for the upcoming Euro 2024 in Germany.

He is eager to add a European Championship title to his already brilliant international career.

“I have many things to contribute to football,” said Mbappé. “I have done many things, but I am still young and I want to do more… I want to put my name in the history of football.

“I just look at what I have in the future and I really want to improve my game, be a better player every year and be the player I want to be.”
