Iga Swiatek will have the opportunity to defend her open French title for the third year in a row after eliminating Coco Gauff in straight sets during Thursday's semifinal match.
Swiatek, 23, continues to prove her worth as a woman Number one tennis professional in the ranking and will now have the chance to claim his fourth French Open title in just four years, and third in a row.
“It was definitely intense,” Swiatek said after the game. “I'm happy I was consistent with my tactics and didn't overthink things and just went for it in the end.”

Gauff, the reigning US Open champion, fought against Swiatek's clean performance. He committed 39 unforced errors to Swiatek's 14.
A visibly frustrated Gauff lashed out at referee Aurélie Tourt at the start of the second set after Tourt overturned a call against Swiatek's serve and instead awarded the point to the Polish tennis star.
Gauff's problem was that despite missing the serve, the linesman's initial decision interrupted his swing.

“But if he called before I hit him, I stopped my reaction,” Gauff said in a video. via Eurosport.
“They're booing because you're wrong,” he continued, referring to the crowd's reaction. “He called it before he hit the ball. I have the right to finish my swing.”
“This is a Grand Slam semi-final, know the rules of the game.”

The incident appeared to reduce Gauff to tears, but the American tennis star was able to recover and break Swiatek to take a 3-1 lead in the set.
But it wasn't enough to shift the momentum in their favor. Swiatek would win the match 6-2, 6-4.
