Iván Martín’s added-time goal gave Girona a dramatic 4-3 home victory against Atlético Madrid on Wednesday that kept them level on points with Real Madrid at the top of LaLiga.

Surprise package Girona reached 48 points, behind Real, who beat Mallorca 1-0 earlier on Wednesday, on goal difference. Atlético de Madrid remains third with 38 points.

Girona opened the scoring two minutes into the game with a great shot from Valery Fernández from the edge of the area before Atlético equalized through Álvaro Morata in the 14th minute.

Girona’s high pressure paid off when they stole the ball from Atlético’s Koke before Savio scored at the second attempt to make it 2-1 in the 26th minute.

Dutch defender Daley Blind extended the home team’s lead in the 39th minute with a touch before Morata closed the gap for Atlético with a great solo move in the final minute of the first half.

Morata scored the third in the 53rd minute, finishing from inside the area to equalize again, but Martín sealed Girona’s victory with a brilliant shot.
