A massive boxing tripler will go to New York on May 2 when Ryan García, Devin Haney and Teofimo López compete in separate fighting on Times Square.
On Friday, Turki Alalshikh, president of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, which regulates the entertainment industry of the kingdom, announced the event “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves” presented by Ring magazine, which will transform Times Square in a boxing place.
The firm's event will be headed by Garcia facing Rolando “Rolly” Romero in the main event. The main event will see Haney again in action at the Welter weight against former unified Welter Junior weight champion José Ramírez. López will begin the night by placing their WBO and Ring Junior weight titles on the line against Arnold Barboza Jr.
García (24-1, 1 nc) will return to the boxing ring after a one-year suspension for a failed drug test that turned his victory into the 2024 decision against Haney to a non-answered. He will face Romero (16-2), who has been at the ring with Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz and seek to achieve discomfort.
Haney (31-0, 1 NC), former indisputable lightweight champion, will move to the Welter weight when he faces Ramírez (29-2). Haney has not fought from Garcia's fight last April, but will seek to keep his undact record against Ramírez, who comes from a loss of decision against Barboza last November.
If Haney and Garcia win, they are expected to meet in a very anticipated rematch at the end of this year.
The first game of the night will see López (21-1) put his titles on the line against Barboza (32-0). López fought for the last time in June, when he defeated Steve ClockTT for a unanimous decision. Barboza moves high after overcoming Jack Catterall in February. A López victory could establish a title unification confrontation with the 140 -pound champion Richardson Hitchins for his next fight.
Tripleader will be transmitted through Pay-Per-View. It is not yet known how the event will be established for fans who seek to attend.
