The right-hander sought medical attention the day after the dinner for a sore throat and stomach ache, ESPN reported. He was reportedly diagnosed with a sore throat. He is likely to be unable to perform physical activities for the next two months, ESPN added.
May was scheduled to rehab from a second elbow surgery nearly a year ago. He had yet to appear in a Dodgers game this season.
Injuries have kept May off the field for the past two seasons. He has made 20 appearances over the past three seasons. He has recorded 98 strikeouts in 101 innings during those games.

He made his major league debut in 2019 and was expected to become one of the faces leading the Dodgers' rotation into a new era as he posted a 2.57 ERA in 12 games during the coronavirus-shortened season.
In 2021, he required Tommy John surgery, which kept him out for most of the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He then suffered a flexor tendon injury, which cost him most of the 2023 season.
The Dodgers' pitching rotation has been decimated by injuries all season.
