The long-awaited arrival of Conor McGregor Return of the UFC was put on hold this week when it was announced that he would miss his fight against Michael Chandler due to an undisclosed injury.
But McGregor took to social media on Saturday to make sure his fans knew this was just a setback.
“It's very difficult to be ruled out of my scheduled comeback fight,” the 35-year-old wrote in a post on Instagram. “I was injured before the press conference and it required more time to heal than I had available.”

On Thursday, UFC president Dana White confirmed that McGregor's fight at UFC 303 later this month has been canceled after speculation arose that he was already in danger when McGregor's press conference in Dublin on June was abruptly canceled on the day of.
“The decision to postpone the fight was not made lightly, but in consultation with my doctors, the UFC and my team,” he said Saturday.
“My fans and opponent deserve my best for this fight, and we will achieve it! Thank you for the messages of support, I am in good spirits and confident that I will return.”

McGregor offered no indication of when that return would come or the nature of his injury.
White announced Thursday that there will be a co-main event, starting with Alex Pereira taking on Jiri Prochazka, followed by Brian Ortega and Diego Lopes.

UFC 303 is scheduled for June 29 in Las Vegas.
