College Baseball Week 9: Top 25 rankings, best moments and what to watch

College baseball is really showing what it's made of. Between Texas and Texas A&M bringing the heat last weekend, Georgia Tech and Florida State giving us a thriller, and Rutgers pushing the No. 1 team in the country to 14 innings, sports is giving us the best of everything.

And despite being pushed into extra innings, UCLA isn't giving up the top spot just yet, as the Bruins hold steady at No. 1. After winning the series over the Longhorns, Texas A&M moved up eight spots in the rankings to crack the top 10 for the first time this season. UCF and Southern Miss suffered the biggest drops this week, dropping nine and 12 spots, respectively.

Although it bounced back last week, LSU fell out of the standings again after being swept at Ole Miss. Also missing from the rankings this week is Nebraska after the Cornhuskers lost two games to Oregon. Kansas takes its place at No. 18 and Florida, which has moved in and out of the rankings in recent weeks, at No. 20.

Here are the full rankings of the Top 25 as of April 13, plus our favorite moments and what we'll see in the coming week.

Highlights

From an epic Ball 5 chant to a swarm of boos, Texas had a rough weekend in College Station as Jim Schlossnagle returned to A&M for the first time since leaving to coach the Longhorns.

And to be in the spirit of the Masters, this first pitching variation in Arkansas was a lot of fun to watch.

Player to watch

Mason Edwards, LHP USC

Edwards has been in a hot spot for the Trojans. He has a 1.35 ERA and is one of the main reasons the Trojans look so good. Last weekend, he scored 16 Ks and leads the nation in strikeouts with 95. As we get closer and closer to the NCAA tournament, there's no telling what kind of fire he could bring.

Game to see

No. 19 Oregon vs. No. 6 Oregon State
9 pm Tuesday (Hillsboro, Oregon)

We love a midweek in-state matchup, and honestly, it was tough deciding between Oregon-Oregon State and Southern Miss-Ole Miss, but we'll head to the Pacific Northwest to see our game. The Beavers have been steadily climbing the standings this season and are looking better week after week. Something that would help them boost their NCAA tournament resume would certainly be a win over the Ducks if they're looking for a top-eight berth. Meanwhile, Oregon is one of the best teams in the Big Ten and is coming off a pair of wins over Nebraska. A win here would certainly propel the Ducks into the second half of the season, where they will face the other two best teams in the conference in UCLA and USC.
