Chelsea have completed the signing of Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall after agreeing a £30million fee, the club announced on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old has signed a six-year contract until 2030.
Brighton came close to completing a deal with Leicester for Dewsbury-Hall in a cash-plus-player transfer that included Polish midfielder Jakub Moder in the other direction.
However, those talks collapsed after Dewsbury-Hall made it clear he wanted a move to London when Chelsea entered the race, and he is set to reunite with former Leicester manager Enzo Maresca, who began work as Mauricio Pochettino's successor on Monday.
“It's incredible to be sitting here as a Chelsea player,” Dewsbury-Hall said on Tuesday. “This is a club that people grow up watching and hope to play for one day, so it's a privilege to be here.”
“I'm really excited to get started and can't wait to show everyone what I can do.”
Dewsbury-Hall scored 12 goals and contributed 12 assists in 44 league games last season, earning him Leicester's Player of the Season award as they won the Championship.
