SAN JUAN, PR – Amanda Serrano will be in her 50th professional fight on Saturday night, but it may be her most important.

Sure, 50 is a nice, round number for arguably the greatest female boxer of all time, but this one has a lot of extra meaning.

The 35-year-old will fight at her home in Puerto Rico at the island's famous Coliseum against Nina Meinke – her first home fight in almost three years – but it will also be the main event in the 18,500-person area, which is expected to is exhausted.

That's a big deal in general, but even more so when Jake Paul, whose MVPs signed Serrano in 2021, takes a back seat on a card he himself is on.

“Jake is such a gentleman. He said this is my house and I would never take that main event. I told him, 'No, you can do it! You can do it!'” Serrano told Fox News Digital last month. He says, 'There's no way you're going to go home and show off your house.'”

Paul added in an interview with Fox News Digital on Thursday: “It wasn't even a question” to let her be the main event.

But for Serrano, there is something else worth fighting for.

“Tonight is for us. It is for women. To all the beautiful and strong women, happy women's month. Today is the beginning. Tomorrow we will show that women have power and that we can go out.” “We can sell and we can give it our all. Nina and I are going to put on an incredible show for my island, Puerto Rico.”

Serrano has proven it before: She and Katie Taylor were the first women to headline a boxing match at Madison Square Garden in 2022. No wonder that fight was billed as “For the History.” That was just one of two losses she suffered in her illustrious career.

Serrano currently holds the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles, all of which are on the line against Meinke.

His home fight in 2021 had an extremely limited crowd, thanks to COVID-19, and if the atmosphere is anything like that of Friday night's weigh-in, it will be the loudest ovation Serrano has ever received or can receive. .
