Bayern Munich presents its annual Oktoberfest uniform

Like clockwork, Bayern Munich have announced the arrival of a distinct autumnal chill in the air with the launch of their new special edition jersey ahead of this year's Oktoberfest in the Bavarian region of southern Germany.

Oktoberfest, or “Weiss“As it is known locally, it is the traditional folk festival held in Munich every autumn since the 19th century to celebrate the changing of the seasons, with parades, traditional costumes, fairs, songs, dances and, perhaps most famously, prodigious amounts of local beer.

Bayern are no strangers to celebrations, with players and staff regularly taking part in their finest attire. leather pants and gather at Theresienwiese, the large open park in central Munich that serves as the official home of Oktoberfest, for a party.

With the festival just around the corner, Bayern have revealed their kit for Oktoberfest 2024 and the results are rather understated. The shirt is dark grey, inspired by the felt shooting jackets typically worn by players. leather pantswith added edging in an elegant sand/cream shade.

To top it off, the fabric is infused with a geometric diamond pattern that mirrors the blue and white rhombuses found on the Bayern club crest.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Bayern has published an official statementWiesn“kit, although the theme's lineage dates back to 2013-14 when the club released an off-white and forest green away kit that was directly inspired by the traditional leather pantsespecially the brown “leather” shorts.

Eight seasons later, in the fall of 2021, the first uniform designated “Wiesn” was introduced, when the club produced a special edition of the green and gold jersey that featured an embroidered club crest adorned with Edelweiss flowers.

The Oktoberfest shirt was later revived and became a permanent fixture in Bayern's kit range the following season, when the German giants unveiled a stylish wine-red design bearing the same Edelweiss-themed embellishments.

The theme was then expanded upon in 2023-24, when Bayern stepped things up with a pale olive green jersey covered in a floral pattern taken from hand-drawn sketches of Alpine mountain flowers.

It was also the first Oktoberfest kit that star striker Harry Kane was tasked with modelling. And judging by the big beaming smile on his face, we think he rather enjoyed the privilege.
