Atletico Madrid have signed striker Alexander Sørloth from fellow La Liga side Villarreal on a four-year contract, the clubs announced on Saturday.
The 28-year-old Norwegian international scored 26 goals for Villarreal in all competitions last season, 23 of them in LaLiga.
That put him second in the league's scoring charts, just behind Girona's Artem Dovbyk, who recently moved to AS Roma.
The transfer fee was not officially revealed, but Spanish media reported it was around 32 million euros ($34.9 million).
Sources told ESPN on Friday that Atletico are also more optimistic about the prospect of signing Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez.
Atleti have made progress with the Argentina international's representatives and are confident he is willing to join the club, sources said, which would facilitate negotiations with Manchester City.
The deal for the player, whose signing is considered a priority, would be for five seasons and a fee that could reach 60 million euros (65.5 million dollars) if Manchester City agrees to sit down at the negotiating table.
Although they have signed Sørloth, Atleti are eager for new strikers following the departures of Álvaro Morata and Memphis Depay.
