A fantastic Callum Hudson-Odoi goal earned Nottingham Forest a welcome point in a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday.

The former Chelsea striker scored with a curling shot from outside the area following a well-practiced free-kick routine by Forest in first-half stoppage time to draw his team level after they fell behind to an early Bournemouth goal .

Bournemouth started brightly, taking the lead from a Lloyd Kelly corner in the fifth minute, with Justin Kluivert putting the hosts ahead from close range after latching on to a Luis Sinisterra strike.

Forest made their attacking intentions known five minutes after falling behind, when Morgan Gibbs-White beat Taiwo Awoniyi, but the striker fired straight at Neto in the Bournemouth goal.

The visitors moved forward in the game as the half progressed, with Ryan Yates tamely shooting straight at Neto from close range in the 24th minute after being intercepted by Murillo following a deep free kick that caused panic in the Bournemouth defence.

Bournemouth did not learn from that scare and Hudson-Odoi's 45th-minute goal came from a free kick in a similar position, with a ball swung from right to left causing chaos in the hosts' defensive line once again.

Hudson-Odoi grabbed the loose ball just outside the Bournemouth box and cut in with his right foot before unleashing an unstoppable shot that slid inside the far post.

“I feel like I'm getting more and more confident,” the 23-year-old told Sky Sports after his second league goal of the season.

“Obviously I want to get more goals for the team. That's my goal for the rest of the season. We came to get the three points. We will get them and, hopefully, in the next league game we can get the three points.”

The second half was a messy affair, punctuated by a series of petty fouls, with neither team able to take the lead.

Bournemouth were reduced to 10 men in the 84th minute when substitute Philip Billing received a straight red card for a nasty foul on Hudson-Odoi, but Forest were unable to make good on their numerical advantage late in the match.

The point saw Forest move up one place to 16th in the table on 21 points, above Luton Town, while Bournemouth moved above Fulham to 12th.
