AC Milan has confirmed his interest in signing Rasmus Højlund after Manchester United striker was withdrawn from Ruben Amorim's team for the first Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday.
United suffered a 1-0 defeat against Mikel Arteta's side in Old Trafford, but with Amorim starting with the summer signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in attack positions and selecting Benjamin Sesko newly arrived at the bank, Højlund stayed to see the game from the positions.
After scoring only 14 goals in 62 appearances in the Premier League since he completed a transfer of £ 72 million ($ 92.5 million) of Atalanta in August 2023, Højlund has been told that he can leave United, despite making it clear that he wants to fight for his place.
But with the 22 -year -old still enjoying a positive reputation in Italy after his spell in Atalanta, Milan is now interested in bringing Denmark back to the series A.
“Højlund is a good option for us,” said Milan Sporting director Igli Tare, Mediaset on Sunday. “We are thinking about him, but the transfers market, you never know what could happen.”

The sources have told ESPN that United wants a rate in the £ 30 million region for Højlund, and Milan prefers a lower loan or rate.
But with the closure of the transfer window on September 1, United Amorim manager was not committed when asked Sunday if Højlund had a future in Old Trafford.
“It's our player, we have to make decisions,” said Amorim. “We have players who have to continue helping the team from abroad.
“You have to fight for its place. We will see what is going to happen. Rasmus has the same characteristics as Sesko, so we sometimes need to choose.”
