To the editor: Lake Mono was supposedly “saved” in 1994 with the historic decision of the Supreme Court of California. But 31 years later, the water level in the lake is not yet high enough to guarantee a healthy ecosystem (“Decades ago, it was ordered to take less water to save Mono Lake. But the city is still far from being a key objective.” August 4).
The Los Angeles Water and Energy Department must comply with the spirit of the Court's decision and the orders of the State Board of Water Resources Control. If more water was released by the streams towards the lake, the lake could reach the target level of 6,392 feet, and the belief that it was saved could reflect reality.

To the editor: My car wore a blue sticker of the bumper “Save Mono Lake” for many years. I remember once the angels lead to Mono Lake and back in one day, with the aim of returning water from DWP origin to the lake. Many people came, carrying tap water that we deposit in Rush Creek.
Now, we need more than symbols. It is time to stop deviations and find real ways to reach the promised water levels in 1994. Mono Lake is too beautiful to lose.
