Trump administration comments on agricultural work will probably be counterproductive

To the editor: What seems fascinating to me about the affirmation of the Secretary of Agriculture of Brooke Rollins that migrant workers can be replaced by the automation and the recipients of Medicaid is not only the underlying cruelty expressed towards the workers immigrant workers and the recipients of Medicaid, nor is it the shocking ignorance (“The Trump official suggests that Medicaid beneficiaries, automation can replace immigrant workers. California farmers do not agree,” July 9).

What seems fascinating to me is the apparent assumption of President Trump and his “brain confidence” that “adults with body in Medicaid” are all people outside their base. From a purely political perspective, it is the only way I can make sense of Rollins's proposal. I hate being the bearer of the bad news for the Trump team, but according to current statistics, the largest group of Medicaid receptors in the US. 39.6% of all recipients). A majority 55% of white voters He launches votes for Trump in the 2024 elections. This means that of Medicaid beneficiaries who are registered voters, it is not unreasonable to assume that a large part are Trump's voters.

Trump's apparent indifference and his administration for subjecting Medicaid receptors who can be republican voters to the type of contempt and cruelty that are normally reserved for immigrants and people of color tells me that they (as they are often the case) have not considered the consequences of their proposals in their own voters. And in this case, it seems to me that this particular lack of judgment is like a dishonest torpedo shot by the Trump administration that returns to the Republican Party. It will be interesting to see how this affects the mid -period elections.
