To the editor: I feel honored to listen to the national anthem in Spanish, just as I felt honest to listen to a great black musician, Jimi Hendrix, play his version with rock infusion in Woodstock (“Nezza says he sang National Anthem in Spanish at the Dodger Stadium against the desires of the team.” June 15).
I am proud that minorities and immigrants want to come to the United States and contribute working hard and raising good families. Those are certainly more Christian values than those proposed by some US citizens, including the person accused of shooting two democratic legislators from Minnesota.
My Sicilian and Slovak ancestors entered the United States through Ellis Island in early 1900. I am proud of Nezza and I hope you sing the national anthem in Spanish again.

To the editor: I hope the Los Angeles Dodgers never invite Nezza to sing our national anthem. They told him that he would sing in English and then proceeded to openly challenge the Dodger organization singing it in Spanish. The Dodgers were honoring the Hispanic community by having a Latin anthem, and then boasts that she did what she wanted despite her instructions.
As someone of Mexican descent, I am proud of my grandparents for bringing their children here to have a better life and more opportunities. They became naturalized American citizens and their descendants are grateful.
The national anthem must be sung in English as the composer of the words, Francis Scott Key, wrote it.
