To the editor: Then, the Academy of Arts and Sciences of the film is creating a new Oscar to debut in 2028 in honor of the design of acrobatics (“After decades of thrust, the acrobatics will get their own Oscar”, April 10)? Truest test, Academy of Arts and Film Film Sciences. The great artists of acrobatics and the coordinators of acrobatics that moved us in the classics have gone and apparently forgotten. Much of the effects of acrobatics in modern cinema are carried out by computer generated images.
This is a meaningless award. Is the academy to give the Oscar to a talented graphic artist that the graphic scripts of “dangerous” acrobatics? This is like creating a prize in 2028 for the design of a mute film title.
