To the editor: Every time I see photos of Pacific Coast Highway, I have to wonder why the State is allowing reconstruction in that area (“It has never experienced losses on this scale. Measure progress six months after fires is hard and painful,” July 10). The houses are in danger of landslides and need walls built to contain the sea. We know that another natural disaster will occur at some point, and we will pay it in human lives and tax dollars.
I can think of three best uses on Earth. The most important thing, give the Californians a little more beach. Next, provide more parking and make PCH safer. The coast belongs to all of us.
