Letters to the editor: Forget about 'America first'. Trump “does not have a coherent foreign policy”

To the editor: What the collaborating writer Josh Hammer experienced in Israel under the reprisal response of Iran with the attack not caused by Israel barely compares to what the Gazans have been subjected in the last two years (“Trump's strike against Iran was 'America first' in action”, June 27). The damage to the Israeli infrastructure was manageable compared to what the Gazans have suffered, and a scared hammer found an exit. The Palestinians, suffering a possibly genocidal Assault, they don't have such options.

Surprisingly, Hammer celebrates the order of President Trump to attack a sovereign state as an action of “America first.” Michael Anton's article quotes, entitled Ridiculously “Trump's doctrine”. In fact, Trump does not have a coherent foreign policy that can be reasonably described as a doctrine. Under “America First”, all we have is a series of capricious tariff directives, brutal and illegal deportation of documented and undocumented migrants, a condemned vision of our NATO responsibilities and a manufacturing base in Declive.

Trump lacks the intellectual capacity to build a coherent political doctrine. If you attend to your interests, you have no problem tangling the United States in another foreign conflict. According to the doubtful Israeli narrative deployed to justify these unilateral attacks, Hammer characterizes Iran as the number 1 state sponsor of terrorism, while Israel launches military attacks with almost impunity throughout the region under the prison of preventive actions.

Hammer Absurdly describes Operation Midnight Hammer as a great act of presidential supply. I ask you, how much lower the bar can be established?

To the editor: When trying to defend Trump's bombardment from Iranian nuclear sites, Hammer cites the only fact that you can find to support their argument: “94% of self -identified magician republicans support operation Midnight Hammer.” He did not cite a national survey.

Apparently, everything that is needed for an action to look as successful is to have the support of the Maga Show base. Although Trump often signed his name on social networks as “Donald J. Trump, president of the United States”, clearly, Trump is not the president of all Americans, but only those who voted for him. He should sign his positions, “Donald J. Trump, president of Maga.”
