To the editor: Sorry, former vice president Kamala Harris decided not to run for governor of California (“Kamala Harris says he is not running for the governor of California.” July 30). She is the only Democrat who has the total package to protect the future of California. Harris has the character; state, local and national political skills; And the experience, experience and leadership necessary to fight against President Trump and the tactics he is trying to use for California to bend.
Harris is a statesman respected by leaders around the world, where they matter the character, trust, integrity, truth and commitment. And in his presidential attempt to lead the country, he had a solid domestic agenda that Trump rejected with lies about his own skills.
California needs the “Governor Harris”, a governor who would know our struggles with the crisis of homeless people, the high costs of buying housing, high life costs and how to protect our economy and people from being attacked by the Trump administration. With luck, Harris will reconsider your decision not to run for governor and recognize that your leadership is necessary here.

To the editor: Harris has nothing to show anyone. Your registration speaks for yourself. She served California with distinction as a general and senator. His service as vice president of the United States has only amplified that impact on a national and global scale.
Speculation or political noise, the truth is clear: it has already made history and, more importantly, it has made the difference. She directed an inspiring campaign for president and the masses are now realizing the type of leadership we missed. Whatever your next steps, your voice, experience and defense are necessary and appreciated.

To the editor: It was a bit surprising to observe that Harris will not look for the seat of the governor of California. One would have thought that she would see him as a springboard for the presidency. But on the cover of the California section, the apparent reason comes to light with a story on how a 2026 governorate would interfere with the timeline for the next presidential nomination cycle (“By discarding the offer for the governor of California, Harris increases the perspectives of the White House, if she runs,” July 30).
The columnist Mark Z. Barabak postulates that he would not want to enter the presidential cycle as an acting governor if he won. Actually? As Barabak points out, other governors have.
The Democrats would be crazy to even consider it for nomination after the results of the 2024 elections. But not the underestimate.

To the editor: Two words for Harris with respect to his option to run for president: Please not (no (no (“Do you run for the president? Start a podcast? Tackle AI? Kamala Harris's options are open.” July 31). We need a new leadership, someone who can demonstrate understanding and empathy for both parties, as well as to offer solutions that meet a broader variety of needs. A reaction to the current administration is not what is needed. A new vision that includes both parties is.
