It's hard to blame teams for intentionally wanting to walk Aaron Judge.

The New York Yankees captain enters Wednesday's game having hit 42 home runs and batting .332.

Aaron Boone appeared on OutKick's “The Ricky Cobb Show” and discussed a possible change regarding the intentional walk rule.

“This [proposed rule] “This applies to each batter individually. The first time you intentionally walk him, you get one base; the second time you intentionally walk him, you get two bases and everyone advances two if somebody's on base, which you obviously wouldn't consider if somebody was in scoring position; and if you want to do it a third time, it's effectively a triple,” Cobb said.

Judge was intentionally walked in the second inning with no one on base and two outs against the Toronto Blue Jays in a game this month, spurring conversation about intentional walks.

“I agree with you. This is a topic I've been asked about a lot, even in my media encounters, so I tell them, 'I need some time to think about it,'” Boone said. “I agree, I think in the biggest moments of the game you don't take the ball out of Pat Mahomes' hands, so I think you should at least throw to them.”

“If you want to walk them by accident, that's an art and you have to be able to do it. I think Major League Baseball has shown over the years that they're willing to bend some rules from time to time, which hasn't always been the case. I think in this case, you should be required to pitch to everybody and have the art of being careful about it.”
