A woman was attacked in her bedroom and sexually assaulted amid a series of home burglaries early Saturday, prompting police to tell residents in Silver Lake and East Hollywood to keep their lights on.
“Residents are advised to turn on all exterior lights, close all windows and doors, and be on the lookout for any suspicious persons or vehicles,” the Los Angeles Police Department posted in a community message.
Burglaries, which police call “hot larcenies,” are home invasions that occur while the occupants are inside. The robberies took place Saturday morning. A woman was attacked in the bedroom where she was sleeping, said Lillian Carranza, deputy chief of operations for the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Bureau.
The Police Department did not identify the locations, but police dispatch and Citizen App records included three reports of theft between 3 and 10 a.m. within a two-block area of Manzanita Street and Sanborn Avenue.
