The United States' final gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics comes in a sport in which Americans have not won it all since 1960 in Rome.
USA Rowing, a men's coxless four team consisting of Liam Corrigan, Michael Grady, Nick Mead and Justin Best, saw their boat edge out New Zealand by 0.85 seconds in the men's four final.
The United States finished in 5:49.03, while New Zealand came in right behind in 5:49.88 and won silver. Great Britain, in 5:52.42, took bronze.

The last time American men won gold in this event, it was Dan Ayrault, Ted Nash, John Sayre and Rusty Wailes who crossed the finish line first at the 1960 Rome Olympics.
This is also the first time the United States has won a medal in rowing since the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.

The four-man coxless team reached the final at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics but finished fifth.
However, this group was coming off a silver-medal-worthy performance at the 2023 World Championships, so there was always hope heading into Paris that they would at least break their eight-year medal drought.
But a perfect run by these four men led to a sixth gold medal at these Olympics for the United States.
The golds for the United States so far have come from the women's gymnastics team final, which is the third in the last four Olympics for this group, Katie Ledecky (1500-meter freestyle final), Torri Huske (100-meter butterfly final), Lee Kiefer (women's individual foil final) and the men's 4×100-meter freestyle relay final.
