Trump says he sounded “somewhat different and strange” due to technological problems during interview with Elon Musk

Former President Trump said technical issues caused his voice to sound “kind of different and weird” during his highly-anticipated interview with X owner Elon Musk on Monday.

Technical issues plagued the interview from the start, with “Space” immediately crashing due to the influx of users and displaying the message “This space is not available.” Once users logged in, many noted that Trump did not sound like himself, with some suggesting he sounded like he had a lisp.

“My conversation with Elon last night was heard by a RECORD-sized audience and was truly something special, as Elon himself is very special, and I thank him for such strong support! Unfortunately, due to the complexity of modern equipment and cell phone technology, my voice was, in certain areas, somewhat different and strange,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

“That's why we've released a real, perfect recording of the conversation,” Trump added. “ENJOY IT!”

Trump supporters have called the criticism “the lisp hoax.”

Elon Musk mocks media for overwhelmingly negative coverage of Trump event X: “so predictable”

The conversation, which lasted about two hours and peaked at 1 million concurrent listeners, covered everything from the assassination attempt on him last month to the state of the 2024 presidential race. The lengthy discussion offered a stark contrast to Vice President Kamala Harris, who has not sat down for an interview since emerging as the Democratic nominee.

Trump is also upset that technological issues have overshadowed the interview's large audience.

“I spent 2.5 hours last night talking to Elon, a fantastic guy, getting record views and hits, and all the fake news wants to say is that the servers crashed (due to sheer volume!) and the show started a little late. What they should be saying is the incredible amount of people who were listening,” he posted.
