The world's best pizzeria is in New York City, the 50 Top Pizza organization announced.
A Pizza Napoletana, located on New York City's Lower East Side, reclaimed the top spot this year after falling to second place in the 2023 rankings.
50 Top Pizza released its list of the world's best pizzerias earlier this week. It also published a ranking of the top 50 in the United States, Europe and other regions of the world.

Una Pizza Napoletana, or Una, is the only U.S.-based pizzeria to make the top five in the global rankings. The only other American restaurant to make the top ten is Tony's Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco.
Chef and owner Anthony Mangieri's pizzas are “an interpretation of the Neapolitan style,” according to Una's website, “featuring a thin, chewy crust with puffed, perfectly charred edges and minimal, carefully selected ingredients.”

Getting a pizza at Una is no easy task.
Open only three days a week, Una serves pizzas every night until it runs out of dough, according to its website.
Their menu features just five varieties of pizza, plus a rotating “special pizza.”

Only about 400 cakes are made each week at Una.
Each person can order one pizza per reservation, according to the restaurant's website. Reservations are taken two weeks in advance and the number of walk-in diners is very limited.

Critics at 50 Top Pizza praised Una for its excellent execution of relatively simplistic pizza concepts.
“In a country that has always been accustomed to putting everything on its pizza, Anthony only offers the purest tradition in terms of ingredients, with extraordinary quality. Marinara, Margherita, Cosacca and a pizza that changes every day, based on market ingredients,” say 50 Top Pizza.

“The dough is a nod to the contemporary, but it is so personal that it probably cannot be classified – good, tasty, true, it has the aroma and taste of pizza,” said 50 Top Pizza.
He advised anyone who wants to dine to “book in advance, as waiting times are quite long.”
