“The message for older people is really quite simple. We are going to strengthen Social Security. That is our goal. And one of the ways in which we are doing that is to align waste, fraud, abuse,” Digital News told Fox News News in an exclusive interview, saying that the Government Efficiency Department (Doge) has been an effective tool to do so.
The senator is promoting the first act of retirees, which would increase the income bar for someone to be asked to pay federal taxes on their social security payments.

“Now, there is also legislation that I have, and the president has talked a lot about this, and is eliminating a federal tax for income from social security benefits. And while we work in the tax package, he will see this in one of those reconciliation packages,” he said.
“The left and the main media continue to talk a lot about cutting social security, and we are not doing that,” he said. The leader of the Senate minority, Chuck Schumer, and other Democrats in Congress, have given alarms on the cuts made to the Social Security Administration, including 7,000 dismissals of the staff.
“Do not be mistaken: what Elon Musk is doing in Social Security is reducing the benefits. And the Senate Republicans are standing with him.
