Rory Mcilroy had a third sensational round that saw him increase the classification at the opening on Saturday in Royal Portrush, however, the shot he remembers most is when he hit two balls with a single swing.
Mcilroy, 36, hit a wandering trip in Hole 11 and the ball landed where the fans are. Mcilroy's ball had a decent lie, since the ground had been trampled in recent days.
However, what Mcilroy did not know, was that directly under his ball, there was another golf ball submerged in the ground that could not be seen, since it was buried under the surface.

When Mcilroy balanced, his ball was 117 yards on the street, and when he made contact with the ground, the other ball appeared a few feet in the air and landed between his feet.
Mcilroy almost immediately looked down and picked up the ball with disbelief.
“Oh, my God,” Mcilroy said as he collected the ball that unearthed with his swing.

Mcilroy finally threw the ball into a bush and asked the analyst in the NBC course, Roger Maltbie, “Have you ever seen that before?”
“That is the strangest and ridiculous I have seen,” Mcilroy said after the round.
Mcilroy ended with a bogey and a ball discovered in Hole 11. The Bogey in Hole 11 was his only spot on the day.
