The mayor's candidate in New York City, Zohran Mamdani, is asking once again cheaper tickets for the World Cup.

Mamdani, a democratic socialist, appeared in the “Pablo Torre” podcast last week, where he discussed ticket prices for World Cup games in New York City, one of the host cities for the finals.

“What we are seeing is that the FIFA approach for the World Cup ticket process is unprecedented in its own administration of previous world drinks and is also an approach that will be worth so many New Yorkers to be able to be in the stands,” he said.

Mamdani, a self -proclamation fan of Arsenal Football Club in England, said a ticket for the final game when the global football tournament was for the last time in the United States in 1994 cost less than $ 200 in today's dollars.

“Now we are, at the nominal value, seeing tickets for more than $ 6,000,” he said. “It's absurd.”

Recently, Mamdani recently requested 15% of the tickets to reserve at discount prices for residents and asked FIFA, the governing body of football, to revert a plan to establish ticket prices based on demand.

Fox News Digital contacted FIFA to comment, but did not receive an immediate response.

The World Cup will be played in 16 cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Eight games, including the final, will be held at the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey, just across the Hudson River from New York.

The FIFA plan to adopt a dynamic price model has caused a violent reaction among some fans, Associated Press said previously.

Tickets will start at $ 60 for matches in the group stage and increase to $ 6,730 for the final, authorities said earlier this month. However, prices could fluctuate under the demand -based price model.
