Chamber Democrats are urging Trump administration to allow children injured in Gaza during the Israel-Ahamas War to enter the United States for emergency medical care.

In a letter from August 25 to the Secretary of State Marco Rubio, more than 140 legislators requested the reversal of a recent movement to stop the approval of all visiting visas for people from the Gaza Strip, including children who need medical attention.

“This pause will deny children the medical attention they need desperately. It is incorrect to prevent children who are trapped in the middle of this horrible conflict to receive medical attention that saves lives,” says the letter.

“In addition, this decision ignores the fact that all Palestinians who leave Gaza to receive medical treatment or to accompany family members who receive medical treatment are already subject to rigorous investigation by the Israeli government, including an Israeli security authorization, identity verification and an evaluation if they are linked to Hamas,” he continued.

The letter occurs after the State Department announced abruptly earlier this month that it would stop issuing travel visas to people from Gaza, including medical-humanitarian visas, while reviewing the process that allowed some of those people to enter the US. Uu. Some had already done so before the pause.

“All visitors visas for Gaza individuals are being arrested while we carry out a complete and exhaustive review of the process and the procedures used to issue a small number of temporary medical-humanitarian visas in recent days,” the State Department wrote in a publication on social networks on August 16, without offering additional details.

Rubio has said that the change was made after several Congress offices contacted accusations “on which some of the organizations boast and involve, acquiring these visas have strong links with terrorist groups such as Hamas.”

“They are not just children, it is a group of adults who accompany them,” Rubio said during an appearance in “Face the Nation” of CBS News the day after the announcement.

Before the agency's announcement, several Gaza children arrived in the United States to receive “without incident” medical treatment, the Chamber Democrats wrote in the letter.

“We ask him to immediately revert the decision of the State Department and resume that Gaza's with approved temporary medical visas enter the United States to receive the attention that saves lives they need,” the legislators wrote to Rubio.

The letter asks Rubio to specify the national security concerns that caused the change in visa approval. The legislators also requested a schedule for the agency's review process and asked which safeguards are considered to avoid the interruption of emergency medical care programs.

The Democrats also asked the department to allow Gaza's children to require emergency medical care to be exempt from the pause.

“We would appreciate any clarification on the basis of politics and a reevaluation of its impact on vulnerable people and families in desperate need,” says the letter.
