“It's tough because you want to be there playing with your guys,” he said in an interview with The Athletic. “But [it came down to] “I realized there was no other place I wanted to be and that my dream was to play in Texas. I'm going to persevere and play there one day.”
Manning turned heads in this year's spring training game, completing 19 of 25 passes for 355 yards and three touchdowns, including a 75-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Moore.
Ewers told the outlet he believes Manning understands that Texas will better prepare him for the NFL.

“I think his actions show that the kid has patience, no doubt,” Ewers added. “I know it's tough, because when I went to Ohio State, obviously it's tough to sit behind somebody.”
Manning had a chance to play against Texas Tech in November. He completed 2 of 5 passes for 30 yards. He also played in the Big 12 championship game against Oklahoma State, but did not throw a pass.
Texas is poised to have its quarterback situation set for at least the next three seasons if Manning decides to stay until his senior season.
Ewers led Texas to a 12-2 season, but lost in the Sugar Bowl to Washington.
