Teenager allegedly killed by the football coach died of acute alcohol poisoning

A 13 -year -old Sun Valley boy who was allegedly killed by his football coach died of acute alcohol poisoning, according to a civil prosecutor for the victim's family.

The finding raises new questions about what happened in the hours prior to the degree of seventh grade Omar Hernández, known as Omar, was found dead, the time supposedly happened with his football coach, a man previously accused of sexually abusing a teenager.

“There are so many pieces of puzzles that are joining,” said civil prosecutor Michael Carrillo, “but at the end of the day, [the Hernandezes’] Son has gone forever. “

The youth soccer coach Mario Edgardo García-Aquino, 43, was accused of murder with special circumstances in early April, which made him eligible for the death penalty.

Attempts to get to the Ventura County Forensic Doctor's office were not successful on Sunday, but Carrillo confirmed that they were told that Omar's death was “acute alcohol poisoning.”

“Tragedy and trauma with the release of information continue for this family. First it was missing, then it was found in a ditch and now they discover that it was alcohol poisoning,” Carrillo said.

Omar took a train to the Antílope Valley at the end of March to visit García-Aquino at his home in Lancaster. El Salvadore National was a youth travel soccer coach with Hurricane Valley Boys Soccer Club in the Sylmar area. When Omar did not return home, his family reported him missing. Homicide detectives of the Los Angeles Police Department, who work together with the Federal Investigation Office, found their body in a ditch on the road in Oxnard in early April.

On April 7, García-Aquino was accused of murder, including a special murder accusation during the commission or attempted commission of lascivious acts with a child. The authorities declined to declare how Omar was killed at that time.

García-Aquino declared himself innocent during a brief judicial appearance earlier this month. It must be returned to court in August, according to judicial records.

It is represented by the Office of the Public Defensor of the Los Angeles County, which did not immediately respond to a request for comments on Sunday.

Subsequent reports revealed that García-Aquino was subject to two previous investigations about alleged misconduct with children.

He was not accused in an accusation of sexual assault of 2022 because the alleged victim refused to testify against him, sources of application of the law to Times said.

However, almost a year before García-Aquino was accused of murdering Omar, he was accused of sexual abuse by another teenager. But he was not accused in that case for 10 months, and an arrest warrant was not requested by García-Aquino up to three days before Omar was killed.

The delay in the presentation of charges was blamed for an accumulation of almost 10,000 cases due to a court of court, as well as a decision of the former Los Angeles Dist county. Atty George Gascon to centralize electronically criminal presentations, according to the current district. Atty Nathan Hochman and attached Dist. Atty. Ryan Erlich, the president of the union that represents rank prosecutors.
