Stephen A. Smith scolded President Biden for recently sharing a fried chicken dinner with a Black family, saying it wasn't “the best look” and admitting that former President Trump would have been considered racist for doing the same.

Earlier this month, President Biden joined a Black family in North Carolina at their home for lunch with a man named Eric and his two children. In a YouTube video posted by the president's campaign, they purchased food from Cook Out, a popular chain known for its burgers, barbecue and chicken. Biden told the children that he had bought them chicken wings and said he had ordered a burger for himself, but the appearance of the fried chicken on the table upset the ESPN host.

“First of all, we all know racial tropes, right? Racist tropes. Have you ever heard of that? Where people sit there and try to use things to imply something more of a racially insensitive nature. So, black people with the The president and fried chicken are not the best look,” Smith said Wednesday on “The Stephen A. Smith Show.”

While ESPN has tried to stay away from politics, the network allows Smith to discuss anything he wants on his topic, and he used the platform to also criticize Biden's decision to eat unhealthy foods.

“What the hell are you doing eating fried chicken? You're 81 years old,” Smith said.

“What 81-year-old man do you know is eating fried chicken? You're not in the best of health in a lot of people's eyes, you know? So eating fried chicken isn't the best look,” he continued. before making a third comment.

“That's the kind of scene, that's the kind of footage that you and your team decided to provide? Seriously? Seriously? Sitting around eating fried chicken, come on man,” Smith said. “This is the same guy who was a senator in the [19]90s pushing the anti-crime bill. You know, that crime bill that led to the mass incarceration of an excessive number of black people.”

Smith added that Trump would be criticized as racist if he recorded a similar video and posted it online.

“If we're being fair, if we saw Donald Trump sitting in a black house, eating fried chicken with a father and son, what would we say? People would call him racist,” Smith said. “Well, if it's racist to him, and I'm not saying it is, but if it's racist to him, why wouldn't it be racist to Biden?”

Smith then made it clear that he was not calling Biden a racist, but simply making a point.

“You've given people that ammunition,” he said.

Biden's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
