Simone Biles is tough as nails, and while it wasn't obvious before Sunday, she made that abundantly clear.
Biles may have been dealing with an injury to her lower left leg, but that didn't stop her from performing the Yurchenko double squat jump on Sunday at the Paris Olympics.

Biles then nailed the Chung to cement her place in the vault final.
As she walked toward her team on the sidelines, it became clear that Biles had an ankle or calf injury. She limped to pack her things and move on to the next event.
She appeared to have suffered an injury while warming up for the floor exercise, as smiles at completing her routine on the balance beam quickly turned to concern.

Biles was heard telling her coaches that she had a problem with her calf or high ankle. Coaches checked her ankle and taped it tightly before she competed on the floor exercise. She was able to perform the floor exercise and vault strongly.
“I'm going to need a wheelchair,” Biles said out loud after warming up for her vault.
All eyes were on Biles as she returned to Olympic competition three years after struggling in artistic gymnastics. She scored 14.733 on the balance beam, 14.600 on the floor exercise, 15.33 on vault and 14.433 on the uneven bars.
Biles was nearly flawless during her uneven bars routine and smiled broadly after landing accurately.
Even with the apparent injury, she was still the best on the U.S. team in those disciplines.
Barring anything unforeseen, Biles will likely try to overcome the injury once again once the finals are held later in the week.
