The North America Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said Wednesday that it detected Russian airplanes that operate in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).
NORAD identified the plane as two TU-95, which are long-range strategic bombers, and two SU-35, which are advanced combat aircraft.
“The Russian military plane remained in the international airspace and did not enter the American or Canadian sovereign airspace. This Russian activity in the Alaska Adiz occurs regularly and is not seen as a threat,” NORAD said in a statement.

NORAD said the ADIZ begins where the sovereign airspace of the United States and Canada ends.
