Rock breaks through the windshield, the driver hurt in downtown Los Angeles

A driver was beaten in the chest by a large rock that crashed on his windshield while driving on highway 10 in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday night.

It is not clear if the rock was thrown or fell from a high step, according to the California road patrol.

Video of the Stringer Onscene.TV service shows a stagnant truck on the highway's shoulder with a hole in the windshield. The vehicle was found by the Los Angeles Fire Department on the west side of Highway 10 in the exchange of the 110 highway near Adams Boulevard.

The unidentified driver reported that something flew by his windshield and hit him in the chest, according to Lyndsey Lantz with the Los Angeles Fire Department. The scope of driver's injuries was unknown, but was taken to the hospital in an ambulance shortly before midnight.
