Protesters redouble support for Trump after witnessing horrific assassination attempt: 'We fight harder'

Fear and shock gripped attendees at former President Donald Trump's campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday when a suspected gunman opened fire, grazing Trump in the ear with a bullet. Now, onlookers who witnessed the incident are doubling down on their support for the former president.

“We're fighting harder than ever,” Trump supporter Renee White told Fox News' Lawrence Jones.

“I'm all for Trump. I have been since he came down that escalator, and the fact that they tried to do this, that someone tried to do this maliciously… it really hurts that anyone would do that to anyone, let alone someone who is fighting for us.”

Jones traveled to the scene of the incident Sunday morning, where he spoke with White and Ron Jurysta, who attended the rally and witnessed what happened. During the “Fox & Friends Weekend,” rally attendees recalled feeling shock and fear.

“Fear [went through my mind]”Jurysta told Jones. “The first thing I thought about was my family, my wife, my son and my daughter. We all ducked down in the bleachers. The gunshots rang out over our heads. As we watched the gunshots, as we hit the stage, the president, the people behind us were screaming because the person who had been hit was behind us. I think more than one person, possibly.”

“[It’s] “It's absolutely surreal,” White said when asked how he felt at the moment.

“Like it was crazy. It was crazy how it all happened. I think it was because I was 14 hours without sleep. Maybe [I felt] “It was a bit of a shock because maybe it didn't hit me all the way, but even when it was happening, I was just looking around, taking it all in,” she added.

“There were four young girls next to me. They collapsed. They were all crying and shaking. And there were people standing next to me. There was a guy next to me who was standing and we were talking throughout the whole event. The next thing I knew, I looked over and he was under the bleachers, and I was just sitting there, I think maybe in shock.”

Authorities have identified the suspected gunman as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Pennsylvania. The incident is still under investigation.
