After a pair of exciting playoff wins at home, the third-seeded Detroit Lions head to California to take on the top-seeded 49ers in the NFC Championship game. The winner of Sunday's championship game will earn a trip to Super Bowl LVIII.
While the Niners franchise has five Vince Lombardi trophies, the Lions have yet to appear in a Super Bowl. The Lions' victory over the Los Angeles Rams in the wild card round marked the first home playoff game for the franchise in several decades.
The entire city of Detroit seems to be rooting for the Lions, even as the team prepares to play on the road this weekend. In the third quarter of the Pistons' game on Saturday, fans erupted “Jared Goff! Jared Goff!” songs.

Earlier in the week, the Red Wings led by three goals in the third period when fans decided to chant “Jared Goff! Jared Goff!” songs.

Chanting of the Lions quarterback's name hasn't been limited to NBA and NHL sporting events in Michigan.
Videos circulating on social media revealed that the chants reached a high school cheerleading competition.
Goff called the feeling “a little different” when asked about it Friday.
“Yes, some people sent it to me last night. And yes, it's great, very fun to be part of a city that cares so much,” he said.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft said his playoff runs there had little of the support he's experiencing now.

“And obviously the circumstances of all of this factor into that,” he said. “But yeah, these fans are amazing. I hope to see a lot of them this weekend too, it'll be fun.”
