Patrick Mahomes claims Taylor Swift is “making plays” for the Kansas City Chiefs

Andy Reid and Matthew Nagy, step aside. Taylor Swift has you.

Since debuting her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce last year, Swift has become a welcome addition to the Chiefs' kingdom, frequently seen at both home and away games. With the upcoming NFL season just days away, it seems Swift is taking on more responsibilities than just being a supportive girlfriend.

In a new interview, team quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke about the impact Swift had on the world of football and, more specifically, his impact on the reigning Super Bowl champions.

“I think it's been great to see the little girls and women who have really taken up the habit of watching football,” Mahomes said of Swift's influence during an interview with Chris Simms on NBC. “And I know how great it is for me to be a father to a little girl. I mean, seeing these little girls, these daughters, and how much they love spending time with their dad watching football.”

Mahomes shares daughter Sterling Skye, 3, with longtime love and Swift's new friend Brittany Mahomes, who is pregnant with the couple's second child. The 28-year-old quarterback and his wife are also parents to a son, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon III, nearly two.

“And then, meeting Taylor, I realized…[d] How genuine and cool she is… that's been special for me… Like you said [she’s] “The most famous person in the world,” Mahomes continued.

“She's very interested in football, she asks a lot of interesting questions. She's already planning plays, so maybe we have to include one,” Mahomes added.

During an interview with TIME last year, when the magazine named her “Person of the Year,” Swift spoke about the scrutiny she'd received since attending many of Kelce's games.

“I don't know how they know what suite I'm in,” he said of photographers at games. “There's a camera like a half mile away, and you don't know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you on the stream, so I don't know if they're showing me 17 times or one.”

Swift added: “I'm just there to support Travis. I have no awareness that I'm being shown too much and upsetting some of the parents, Brads and Chads.”
