Online appointment killer attracted to men for robberies, Los Angeles prosecutors allege

A 44 -year -old groin man allegedly killed and stole two men he met through a dating website before savagely winning a third, prosecutors said Monday.

Rockim Prowell was accused of two positions of murder, a charge of murder attempt and multiple charges of car theft and theft in a series of attacks from 2021 to 2025, according to a criminal complaint made public on Monday. In each case, Los Angeles County prosecutors said, Prowell met their victims through online appointments.

“Imagine the terror and horror that these victims felt after being deceived to believe they met for a reason, only to face an inexplicable violence,” dist. Atty. Nathan Hochman said in a statement. “These were predatory acts that showed a total contempt of life.”

In July 2021, Prowell met with Miguel Angel King, 51, after they connected in the appointment application, according to a press release issued Monday by the district prosecutor's office. Prosecutors claim that Prowell shot the king and stole his car, which was found a week later. The forensic evidence collected from the vehicle linked Prowell with the murder, according to the district prosecutor's office. King's remains were found in the National Forest of Angeles the following month.

At the time of King's death, Prowell was waiting for a trial on multiple charges of robbery and robbery. He was arrested in May 2021, as shown in the judicial records, and allegedly killed King two months before the district prosecutor offered him a guilt that placed him on probation.

A spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office declined to comment on the previous guilt agreement or identify the appointment application used in each attack.

The Public Defensor's Office of the County, which lasts represented ProWell in 2021, did not immediately respond to a request for comments.

Prowell was scheduled to be prosecuted on Monday, but his hearing was delayed until October 16, according to a spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office.

In August 2023, prosecutors said Prowell met with Robert Gutiérrez, 53, after re -useing a dating website to connect.

Gutierrez's family informed him that he disappeared a week later and his body was never found, prosecutors said. But when Prowell was arrested last week, prosecutors said they found Gutiérrez's vehicle in his garage.

This year, prosecutors say that ProWell also attracted a 40 -year -old man to meet him through the same dating website, after which he “tied the victim, stole her wallet and hit him with a baseball bat,” according to the press release. The man escaped, but Prowell persecuted him in a car, passing him and breaking him.

Prosecutors could follow the death penalty against Prowell, but a decision on whether to do so must be approved by a committee within the district prosecutor's office.
