Olympic hopeful Fred Richard has many more Games in mind than those in 2024: “At least three, maybe four”

Gymnast Fred Richard will most likely head to Paris in July; He will officially discover his fate later this month.

The 20-year-old from Stoughton, Massachusetts, earned a gold medal at the national championships earlier this year and is now focused on reaching the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The professional life of a gymnast is quite short, but Richard wants to beat the clock.

“I'm looking to do a minimum of three, maybe four. Gymnastics is a lifestyle right now. I think I'm going to keep doing this for a while. 2028 will be huge. The Los Angeles Olympics, that's the one I want to be destroying everyone. I have four years to really give it my all for the sport,” Richard told Fox News Digital in a recent interview.

Four Olympic Games would take him to the 2036 Olympics at the age of 36. Thank goodness he's a partner in Celsius, the energy drink that's constantly disappearing from shelves everywhere.

“I feel like when I see Celsius online, they're highlighting the lifestyle of athletes. I know there are energy drinks for gamers; I just get the feeling that Celsius is for athletes. And then, of course, I look at what I actually contains in it, making sure it doesn't have added sugar. I feel good drinking it,” Richard said.

Richard joins fellow Michigan Wolverine Blake Corum and Olympian Noah Lyles as part of the Celsius roster. And just like those two, the 200 milligrams of caffeine is a perfect stimulant.

“When my training gets more intense, there are a couple of times a week where I'm much more tired, but I still have to practice and complete my tasks, then I take it for extra energy. That extra energy boost on those days where I really need it,” he said.

Richard has been told he's probably an Olympic athlete since he was 10, which is some pressure for a fifth-grader. But he and his family have made many sacrifices and he wants to make it worth it.

“It would be huge. A lot of people have helped me get to this level in my life. It's like it's come full circle,” Richard said. “I can prove that everything they did was worth it. Everyone who has supported me is proud of me, but I want to go the extra mile, I want to get to the Olympics, stand out at the Olympics and really show.” that the team that brought me here was all worth it.

Of course, winning medals would be huge for Richard, but right now he's focused on putting in a good performance and putting himself on the map.

“I like medals, so getting some of them would be great,” he said. “However, I think the biggest thing that would make me feel like I won is for everyone to see my performances and say, 'Wow, that kid is going to be something great.' And then they follow me. Just go in and tell everyone world that I am at the highest level.
