New video shows assassination attempt on Trump at Pennsylvania rally

New video captured by a rally attendee shows the attempted assassination of former President Trump before a sniper took out the shooter after he opened fire.

Jon Malis captured the footage as he and his family watched the campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, next to the American Glass Research (AGR) building, where Thomas Matthew Crooks was able to get a vantage point to see Trump, who suffered injuries to his ear from the shooting. One spectator was killed and several others were injured in the incident.

Crooks, 20, apparently fired eight shots before being killed by sniper fire.

“I noticed that about two minutes before the shooting started, people started saying, 'Hey, he's climbing over here, he's crawling, he's doing this, he's doing that,'” Malis told Fox News. “We just ignored it because we thought it was someone trying to get a better look.”

“I want to say three, then maybe five. [rounds were heard]”He added. “And then I heard the two shots from the counter sniper.”

A source told Fox News that one shot came from a local sniper, while the other came from a Secret Service sniper, which was ultimately the fatal shot.

Malis, a military veteran, said he was shocked by the lack of security at the event venue.

“One of the first things I noticed when we arrived was that none of us had been screened,” she said. “We're all along the fence. We all have a view of the stage. We can see Trump.”

Malis also said that all witnesses near the AGR building did not have to go through metal detectors because they were outside the rally site, despite having a clear, close view of Trump.

A video Malis captured was taken by a dash cam.

“We were looking for a place to park because everything was blocked,” Malis said when asked to explain what he saw when the video was recorded. “But on this particular street, I noticed that there were a lot of cars parked there. So we kept driving and thought it was safe. And, when I went back to watch my videos later, I noticed someone who looked like a criminal crossing the street and I focused on him.”

“It turned out that was him,” he said. “It's a video of him, we believe, getting out of his vehicle. There was a gray Hyundai, what looked like a Sonata, that was parked there… He wasn't wearing anything. He was dressed, you know, in his regular clothes. No backpack or anything. He was just walking toward the building. And then about two minutes later, another person recorded a video of him on that side of the building, through the fence.”

Malis said a video he has shows Crooks pointing his rifle at him.

“Right before the Secret Service shot him, he turned around and stood up,” he said. “I have a picture of him with the rifle up and pointing it at me and the other guys who were behind the tree, and at that point the Secret Service shot him.”

He also said he was surprised that the Secret Service was not on the roof where Crooks was stationed.
