President Donald Trump has commissioned that Spacex and the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, evaluate the waste expenditure in the Department of Education and the Pentagon, under the Government Efficiency Department (Doge) that Musk leads Musk.
Doge has the task of eliminating government spending, waste and the streamlining of efficiency and operations, and is expected to influence White House policy in budgetary affairs.
“I have ordered him to see education, to review the Pentagon … and unfortunately, you will find some things that are quite bad, but I do not think that proportionally, you will see something like we only saw:” Trump told journalists about his Plans for Musk on Friday during a press conference while receiving Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ihiba.

On Monday, Trump and Doge launched an effort to close the United States Agency for International Development, a group that works to provide help to impoverished countries and development assistance.
The group has been the subject of Doge scrutiny, and in an audio message X, Musk said on Sunday that he was “in the” closing USAID “process, for corrupt expenses, and that, according to the reports, Trump agreed .
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, now interim director of the Independent Agency, said on Monday that USAID was not “working” and that the organization is not a “global beneficial organization.”
“It must be aligned with the national interest of the United States,” Rubio said. “They are not a global beneficial organization, these are taxpayers dollars. People are asking simple questions. What are they doing with money?
“We are spending the taxpayers' money,” he said. “We owe the guarantees of the taxpayers to promote our national interest.”

Doge has had the task of cutting $ 2 billion from the Federal Government budget through efforts to reduce spending, government programs and federal workforce.
Musk has faced a violent reaction for his interference in government affairs so far. For example, the Senate Democrats have accused Lege of making a “hostile acquisition” after Musk reports had access to the Treasury Department of the Central Payment Systems of the Fiscal Service.
The Department of Education and the Department of Defense have some of the largest budgets of government agencies. For fiscal year 2024, the Department of Education received a budget of $ 79.1 billion, while the Department of Defense received a budget of $ 841.4 billion, according to government documents.
Meanwhile, Trump has indicated that he is trying to completely reject the Department of Education through an executive order.
Even so, Congress would need to approve legislation to completely dissolve an agency, according to article II of the Constitution.
